Building Superintendent

Gillette, WY

S&S Builders is looking to hire an experienced carpentry superintendent. A Superintendent

supervises and coordinates the work of a crew(s) of workers and subcontractors.

Superintendents are primarily concerned with seeing that the workers under them do their job

skillfully and efficiently, and that assigned work progresses on schedule. They deal with the

routing of material and equipment, and with the laying out of the job. The work requires quick,

clear thinking and quick onsite decisions. These employees should have a broad working

knowledge of their craft; must understand the blueprints, specifications and requirements of the

project and the entity (WYDOT, City, etc.); and need to have an eye for detail. This person

directs the activities of workers by performing the following duties personally or through

subordinates. This person must have knowledge and experience in carpentry and vertical

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)

 Studies specifications and procedures for construction on basis of starting and

completion times, staffing requirements and job costing per job estimate for each

phase of construction.

 Before the project begins, the employee will meet with the Estimator, Project

Manager, Safety Manager, and the Contracts Administrator to develop a working

knowledge of the job cost spread. The task will be to develop the phases into a

logical form that will best suit the development of timecards and daily quantity reports

and ensure access to data at a future date for historical information.

 Schedules delivery of tools, equipment, manpower and materials to be delivered at

specified times to conform to work schedules.

 Confers with and directs personnel and subcontractors engaged in executing work,

interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to

prevent delays.

 Confers with Field Operations Manager and employees to resolve complaints and

grievances within work force.

 Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications

(Quality Control) and the adherence to construction schedules for our crews and

subcontractors.

 Initiates, tracks and supplies reports on progress, materials used and costs, adjusts

work schedules as indicated by reports (job costing, quantities completion reports,

etc.), and maintains a detailed daily log.

 Reports quantities of materials installed daily to the Project Manager and or

Contracts Administrator.

 Verifies accuracy of timecards including hours worked, equipment used and that all

has been coded to the appropriate phase and that the employees have initialed

them.

 Takes responsibility for safety of’ crew and the crews’ adherence to policies including

daily toolbox safety meetings and documents content.

 Schedules for appropriate inspections and testing necessary for the timely

completion of the project.

Mechanic

They work with the Maintenance Manager to perform the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment and vehicles. They may be asked to assist in the development of the company maintenance procedures and processes for repair and maintenance of all equipment and vehicles for their location. This person is responsible for being cost-conscious and efficient with company supplies and purchases of parts.Opening is a full-time position with benefits. S&S Builders is looking for an experienced concrete finisher to safely place and finish surfaces of concrete flat work to specified textures using hand and power tools, including floats, trowels, and screeds. This individual will also be required to safely set up concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, and curbs to specified plans. They may also be required to safely signal concrete drivers in order to position trucks and facilitate placement of concrete. Opening is for a full-time position. Concrete Finisher Responsibilities:

  • Setting forms.
  • Cleaning, preparing and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.
  • Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed.     This includes handheld tools and power tool versions.
  • Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.
  • Applying sealing and hardening components.
  • Safely operating power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.
  • Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.
  • Polishing surface using a power surfacing machine.

Concrete Finisher Requirements:

  • High school diploma.
  • Minimum 3 years work experience as a concrete laborer or mason.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work long hours.
  • Ability to kneel for long periods.
  • Knowledge of hand-held and power tools including power vibrators, polishers, cutting saws, and edging tools.
  • Able to travel, work shifts or at night and on public holidays as required.

S&S Builders, LLC is looking for a self-motivated individual with carpentry experience for our commercial building division. Carpenters are responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining structures and fixtures made of wood, steel and other materials.
